Hartford, Conn. - As we enter the month of March, this year's 22nd Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the the squash courts and on the ice. Women's squash sophomore Jenny Haley (Newport, Wales) and men's hockey senior captain Ethan Holdaway (Glastonbury, Conn.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Haley went a perfect 3-0 in last weekend's Howe Cup Tournament to help lead the women's squash team to a third place finish. Against Stanford in the quarterfinals match, Haley went down, 1-0, before rattling off three-straight wins, including an 11-1 win in the decisive game, for the victory. On Saturday, Haley ended a 3-0 Penn run with a victory at No. 7 to put the Bantams up 4-3 in the overall match before capping the weekend with hard fought, five game victory against her counterpart from Princeton on Sunday.
Holdaway netted two goals in the Trinity men's hockey 4-1 victory against Tufts in the NESCAC Championship Tournament Quarterfinals last weekend. Holdaway's first goal came late in the second period as he cleaned up a loose puck in front of the net off a rebound. Holdaway iced the game with his second goal of the game, an empty netter, with less than a minute to play. Trinity moves on to the semifinals on Saturday where they will play Williams.
