Hartford, Conn. - With the opening weekend of spring break behind us, this year's 24th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the ice and the lacrosse turf. Men's ice hockey senior forward Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.) and women's lacrosse junior attacker Abby McInerney (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Orlando helped the Bantams advance to their second NCAA Division III Championship Quarterfinals with two goals in Trinity's 4-1 victory over Plattsburgh State in the tourney's opening round. He scored the first two goals of the game to give Trinity a 2-0 lead after the first period. Orlando has a team-high 17 goals and 18 assists for 35 points this season. He was named to the All-NESCAC Second Team.
McInerney scored three goals and assisted on two others with three draw controls and two ground balls in a 13-3 win over Springfield for the No. 2-ranked Bantams. In an 8-7 overtime triumph at No. 18-ranked Colby, McInerney scored the game-winner 28 seconds into overtime to keep Trinity undefeated through three games.
