Hartford, Conn. - With the month of March coming to a close, this year's 26th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the ice and lacrosse field. Women's lacrosse senior captain Clare Lyne (Concord, Mass.) and men's hockey junior Tyler Whitney (Wakefield, Mass.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Lyne had seven goals and five assists in three wins, including the game-winning goal in a 6-5 win at Stevens and a game-tying assist in a 14-11 win against Tufts. Lyne had a goal and an assist with two draw controls in the Stevens game, two goals and three assists with two draw controls against Tufts, and four goals with one assist and three draw controls in a 14-4 victory over Wheaton.
Whitney had a hand in all three goals scored for Trinity in the NCAA Tournament semifinals victory against St. Norbert and netted a power play goal against Norwich in the National Championship game. Whitney dished out three assists against the Green Knights in the Frozen Four, including the game-winner which came late in the second period. Against the Cadets, Whitney scored in the second period to tie the game at 1-1, his 13th of the year.
