Hartford, Conn. - With the fall semester winding to a close, this year's 14th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the hardwood and in the water. Junior women's basketball forward Erin Cunningham (Wilton, Conn.) and sophomore men's swimmer Greg Kalmiskii (St. Petersburg, Russia) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Cunningham scored a career-high 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Bantams to an 81-70 comeback victory over Gordon College last week. Cunningham shot 75% from the floor including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc while scoring 17 second-half points and adding three blocked shots to lead Trinity to the win. The Connecticut native shot over 65% from the field and finished with four rebounds against Connecticut College earlier in the week as well.
Kalmiskii won three events to lead the Bantams to a 146-5-84.5 win over the visiting Wheaton College Lyons last week in the team's home opener. Kalmiskii took first place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.77), the 100-yard butterfly (52.44), and the 500-yard free (4:56.75). Kalmiskii has now won six individual events so far to start the season and has been a key part of multiple Trinity relay teams that have placed this winter as well.
