Trinity's Ace McAlister Earns Men's Cross Country All-NESCAC Honors

Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College sophomore Ace McAlister (Great Barrington, Mass.) was named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Cross Country All-Conference Second Team thanks to his 10th-place finish at the NESCAC Championship Meet at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine on Saturday.  Trinity, coached by George Suitor (26th Season), finished ninth in the team standings with 237 points to jump two spots from last year's meet.  McAlister, a United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) New England All-Regional honoree as a rookie in 2016, recorded a time of 25:39.4 in the NESCAC Championship Meet. McAlister improved 29 places from last year's meet with a time 1:26 faster than his rookie season.  He finished .6 seconds behind the ninth-place runner and 2.5 faster than the 11th-place runner.

The sophomore harrier has put together an impressive second year after missing the early part of the season due to injury. McAlister has led the Bantams over the last four races, including a runner-up performance at the James Earley Invitational at Westfield State in early October and an 11th place finish at the Connecticut College Invitational on October 14.  He posted a career-best time of 24:57 to claim 11th place in the Paul Short Run at Lehigh on September 29.  McAlister and the Bantams will compete in the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, November 11 where McAlister hopes to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships the following weekend at Principia College in Illinois.
