New London, Conn. - The Trinity College women's track and field team finished with 122.50 total points, just two points behind first place Westfield State in a tightly contested Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday afternoon in New London. The Bantams finished twelve points ahead of third place Connecticut College in an impressive day of racing.
Sophomore Katie Marlow-Benedick (Weston, Mass.) won the 100-meter dash in 12.30, just .33 seconds ahead of teammate Emma Buckley (Hanover, Mass.) who took second. The duo also finished 1-2 in the 200-meter dash, separated by less than a second once again. Sophomore Katie Lazur (East Hanover, N.J.) finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a finals time of 1:01.69 for Trinity as well.
Junior Anna Barnes (Storrs, Conn.) returned to form with a first-place finish in the 800-meter run while sophomore Samantha Feenstra (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) boasted a second-place performance in the 1,500-meter run with a finals time of 5:01.45. In the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Nina Bourgeois (Rochester, Mass.) and senior captain Hannah Ells (Amesbury, Mass.) took second and third, respectively. In field events, rookie Izzy Bruno (Winchester, Mass.) took third in the high-jump while Katherine Bullock (Cape Neddick, Maine) won the triple-jump and finished fourth in the high-jump. Sophomore Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) performed well in the discus throw, claiming third-place with a 33.59-meter finish while sophomore Devan Walsh (Danvers, Mass.) capped off Trinity's scoring with a third-place toss of the javelin throw.
