Athletes of Color Coalition


Mission Statement

In alliance with members of the athletic administration, the Athletes of Color Coalition aims to build a safe, more diverse environment, which will enhance the athletic experience of student-athletes of color within athletics and the greater campus community. Programming and services are developed with the intention of implementing a system that establishes a social network amongst athletes of color, promotes solidarity, and encourages discourse. 




Officers and Co-Founders

Officer - Jyles Romer '20 (Track & Field)

Romer is a Psychology & Sociology major from the Bahamas. He is a member of the Men of Color Alliance (MOCA), Trinity’s Athlete of Color Coalition and a former P.R.I.D.E leader, and a triple jumper and 400m runner on Trinity Track and Field. You can find him on campus working at the Library as a Consultant and in the Communications office as a Social Media Associate.

Secretary - Meeka Bolduc '22 (Softball)

Bolduc is a sophomore from Laconia, New Hampshire. She is the Secretary of the Athletes of Color Coalition, and Social Media Co-Chair of Imani BSU. She is a member of the Trinity College Softball team and the Women’s Club Soccer program.

Treasurer - Dakota Foster '21 (Football)

Foster is a junior on the Football team. Studying Public Policy & Law and Hispanic Studies, he is also the Community Service Chair on Trinity’s Imani Black Student Union, a Resident Advisor, and a member of the Newman Club on campus.

Event Coordinators - Kinnard Hughes '22 (Track & Field) and Peace Kabari '20 (Basketball, Track & Field)

Hughes is an Economics major and Writing, Rhetoric and Media Arts minor from Chicago, Illinois. Hughes is also a Long and High Jumper for the Men’s Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Team. On campus, Hughes is a Career Development Intern, Cultural House Coordinator at the Umoja House, Posse Scholar, Student Athlete Advisory Council Representative, and a Co-Founder of the Athletes of Color Coalition. 

Kabari is a senior Economics major, Religion minor as well as a three-sport athlete and co-captain on the Women’s Basketball Team. From Manchester, NH she is co-founder of the Athletes of Color Coalition, a P.R.I.D.E Leader, a member of the Investment club, a Ferris game operations worker, and a vocalist in the jazz band.

Community Service Chair - Charles Barsella '21 (Football), Tijani Harris '22 (Football), Kaylyn Campbell '21 (Basketball)

Barsella (Jr.) is a Political Science Major who comes from Baldwin, New York. He is the President of the HMTCA Boy’s Club, NESCAC SAAC Rep for Trinity College, Chair of Community Service in the Athletes of Color Coalition, and a Member if the Trinity College Bantam Football Program. Aside from his endeavors on campus, he had just recently had an internship at Fidelity Finance in the summer of 2019. 

Harris is a sophomore Political science major who comes from Hagerstown, Maryland. He is a P.R.I.D.E leader, an SGA senator, and a member of Trinity’s football program. Also, Tijani is currently the chair of community service in the Athletes of Color Coalition.

Campbell is a junior Music major as well a member on the Women’s basketball team from Hillsborough, NC.  She is a co-founder and community service chair on the Athlete of Color Coalition and is a alto-saxophone player on Trinity’s Jazz Band. 

Social Chair - Hareena Johnson '22 (Volleyball)

Johnson is a Biology major, with goals of becoming a veterinarian and a starting outside on the Trinity college volleyball team. She is currently a sophomore, the Imani BSU social chair, a co-founder and social chair of the Athletes of color coalition. Originally from Los Angeles, California she hopes to bring her L.A. sunshine everywhere she goes.
