Hartford, Conn. - The 11th Bantam of the Week of the 2019-20 sports season has been selected thanks to strong performances on the basketball court and the cross country trail. Senior women's basketball captain Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) and sophomore men's cross country runner Tim Lautenbach (Weston, Conn.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Kabari averaged 16.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game and was named to the Trinity Tip-Off All-Tournament Team. She scored 17 points with eight rebounds in a 77-67 loss to Eastern Connecticut and netted 16 points with 11 boards, five assists, three steals, and two blocks in a 74-52 win over Montclair State. Kabari shot 50 percent from the field and 3-point range, and 90 percent from the foul line. She was also named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll for her fine performance.
Lautenbach finished 38th in the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship Meet at Bowdoin College with a time of 25:53.06. Lautenbach was the second-swiftest Bantam and ended up just 3.47 seconds and three place shy of an All-New England performance. He helped Trinity finish seventh of 54 teams in the NCAA Regional Meet.
