Loughborough, Urban-Spillane Named Bantams Of The Week

Hartford, Conn. - The 12th Bantam of the Week of the 2019-20 sports season has been selected thanks to strong performances on the ice and off the board.  Senior men's ice hockey goaltender Tedy Loughborough (Wellesley, Mass.) and junior women's diver Lia Urban-Spillane (Rochester, N.Y.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.

Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.

Loughborough had 61 saves and allowed just one goal in each game, as the Bantams won a pair of 2-1 decisions at Amherst and Hamilton. He had 40 stops in a 2-1 win at Amherst, including 23 in the third period to preserve Trinity’s one-goal lead. He added 21 saves in the Hamilton game to finish with a .968 save percentage for the weekend. He was also honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week for his fine performance.

Urban-Spillane swept the diving events for the second straight week in a 206-94 loss at Bates. She won at Bates with a three-meter score of 243.90 and a one-meter score of 229.49 points.  Urban-Spillane, who also swept the diving the previous weekend at Hamilton, was named to the NESCAC Honor Roll for her excellent performance.
