Hartford, Conn. - The 24th Bantam of the Week of 2019-20 has been selected after a week hiatus. With the cancellation of the 2020 Trinity College spring sports season, we will be honoring our spring senior student-athletes as Bantams of the Week. These athletes were denied the opportunity to compete in their final collegiate season by the COVID-19 outbreak, but have handled the incredibly unfortunate and disappointing situation with the courage and grace that makes us proud to name them as Bantams of the Week. This week's honorees are softball senior captains Lindsay Pressman (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Madeline Spencer-Orrell (Northampton, Mass.) who were both set to anchor the Trinity pitching staff but were the lone Bantams whose senior season will not include any varsity competition.
Trinity Athletics created the Bantams of the Week award to spotlight two outstanding student-athletes who have performed at an extremely high level while representing the Bantams in varsity sporting competition.
Pressman is a two-year softball captain for the Bantams who appeared in 30 games with nine starts in the circle over three seasons. She went 7-6 with two saves with 37 strikeouts and a 3.85 ERA in 83.2 innings pitched from 2017 to 2019. Pressman was a NESCAC All-Academic honoree as a sociology major at Trinity. A graduate of Harborfields High School, she is the daughter of Susan Guralnick and Sheldon Pressman.
Spencer-Orrell was Trinity's ERA leader in 2019, going 9-4 in the circle with 25 K's to go with her 3.71 ERA in 17 appearances and nine starts. She pitched in 24 games and 96 innings with 17 starts from 2017 to 2019, going 9-6 with a 3.72 ERA and 32 strikeouts. Spencer-Orrell was a NESCAC All-Academic honoree as an English and psychology major at Trinity. A graduate of the Northfield-Mount Hermon School, she is the daughter of Julie Spencer-Robinson and John Orrell.
