Hartford, Conn. - The sixth Bantams of the Week of the 2019 fall season have been selected thanks to their strong performances on the tennis court and the football field. Junior women's tennis player Lily Everett (Nassau, Bahamas) and sophomore football RB Tijani Harris (Hagerstown, Md.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Everett won three of four singles matches without dropping a set and three of four doubles matches with senior teammate Morgan Wilkins in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament in Western Massachusetts over the weekend. Playing against pairs from Mount Holyoke, Gordon, and Babson, Everett won, Everett yielded just five singles sets and zero doubles points to reach the finals. Everett/Wilkins lost in the finals on a tiebreaker to a pair from Middlebury, and she lost, 6-3, 6-4, in her final singles match.
Harris ran for a career-high 139 yards on 27 carries (5.1 yards per carry) and a one-yard touchdown that gave Trinity a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, as the Bantams won at Bates, 51-0. Harris also caught a 13-yard pass for a second touchdown.
