Hartford, Conn. - The ninth Bantams of the Week of the 2019 fall season have been selected thanks to their strong performances on the volleyball court and the cross country trail. Senior men's cross country runner Timothy Bogomolov (Lynn, Mass.) and senior volleyball outside hitter Colette Scheffers (Flossmoor, Ill.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Bogomolov finished 27th in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Meet at Williams College with a time of 26:33. The co-captain shaved a minute off his team in the same event last season and improved 37 places from 2018 to help the Bantams to a seventh-place team finish.
Scheffers, a co-captain playing in her final collegiate match, led the Bantams to a 3-2 road win at Connecticut College that snapped the Bantams’ nine-match losing
streak. She totaled 59 attacks and a match-high 19 kills for the Trinity offense. Scheffers also recorded a team-high 21 digs to go with six block assists.
