Black, Starks Named as Bantams of the Week

Hartford, Conn. - As the winter sports regular season winds down, the year's 20th athletes of the week have been named thanks to their strong performances on the court and in the water. Sophomore women's swimmer Cassidy Black (Dover, N.H.) and senior men's basketball captain Jaquann Starks (Hartford, Conn.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.

Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Black finished 12th in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a College-record time, highlighting an excellent second day of competition for the women's swimming and diving team in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Championships last weekend. Black's time of 10:46.35 on Saturday shattered the previous Bantam mark in the event by five seconds. The New Hampshire native also added a 13th-place time of 18:01.16, a new lifetime best, in Saturday's 1,650-yard freestyle.

Starks averaged 15 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in the Trinity men's basketball teams two victories last weekend. The Bantams locked up the number one seed in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament with its 97-86 win over Middlebury on Saturday where Starks led the team with 20 points on 60% shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point land.
