Hartford, Conn. - With February winding to a close, this year's 21st Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the track and on the squash courts. Women's indoor track sophomore Anna Barnes (Storrs, Conn.) and men's squash first-year Thoboki Mohohlo (Hartford, Conn.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Barnes earned All-New England honors as she finished fourth in the mile run with a time of 5:06.52, just seven seconds off the lead, at last weekend's New England Division III Championships, hosted by MIT. Barnes has dominated during the indoor season, recording four first-place times in multiple events. The sophomore returns to the track this weekend for the New England Open Championships.
Mohohlo proved to be a catalyst this weekend as the Bantams captured their 16th National Championship at Harvard. He started the weekend with a clean sweep at the No. 3 spot on Friday, allowing just 10 total points to his opponent from Penn. On Saturday, he dopped just one game against St. Lawrence en route to a 3-1 victory. He won once again against Harvard in the championship match on Sunday, however his 3-1 win came at just the right time as the Bantams had already dropped the first two matches in the first wave. Trinity ended up winning, 5-4, thanks in part to Mohohlo's first wave victory.
