Hartford, Conn. - As we begin 2018, this year's 15th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the hardwood. Junior women's basketball guard Erica Junquet (Monroe, N.J.) and sophomore men's basketball guard Christian Porydzy (South Glastonbury, Conn.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Junquet had a big weekend for Trinity, averaging 14.5 points per game at the Hat City Classic. Junquet matched a career high of 19 points against Newbury on Saturday via a 6-of-12 shooting performance and added nine rebounds and four assists. She added 10 points against Maine Maritime on Friday and finished the weekend shooting 55.6 percent from the field. The New Jersey native is currently 14th in the NESCAC in scoring (11.3 ppg) while shooting 46.9% from the floor.
Porydzy scored five points in the final minute of regulation and the first three points in overtime to lead the Bantams to a 71-69 overtime victory against Regis in the final of the Holiday Invitational. He finished the game with a team-high 16 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. He went 7-for-16 (43.8%) from long range in the two games, and was named to the all-tournament team.
