Hartford, Conn. - With the end of January approaching, this year's 18th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances in the water and on the squash court. Senior women's ice hockey captain Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.) and sophomore men's wrestler Stephen Cerrone (Quechee, Vt.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Finn had a big week for the Bantams, helping lead the women's hockey team to a 2-1 week. Finn scored the game-winning goal against Manhattanville, breaking a 1-1 tie with 10:31 left in the third period, and totaled two goals and an assist versus Castleton, including the game-winner that broke a 2-2 stalemate 9:22 into the final period. Finn leads the team with eight points on five goals and three assists.
Cerrone had a stellar weekend at the Headlock for Hunger New England Wrestling Association (NEWA), helping lead the Bantams to a pair of dual victories, going 3-1 and representing Trinity on the NEWA All-Tournament Team. Against Rhode Island, Cerrone won by fall before going on to win by major decision, 13-4, over his Williams counterpart. Cerrone capped off the day with a technical fall (15-0) against his opponent from Plymouth State to put the Bantams ahead 18-9 and help seal the victory.
