Hartford, Conn. - With the 2017 fall season in full swing, this year's second Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the cross country path and golf course. Senior women's cross country captain Briana Daley (Oak Park, Ill.) and junior golfer Will Rosenfield (Baltimore, Md.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Daley finished fifth overall among a field of 299 runners with a time of 18:37 over the 5K course at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational last weekend, helping lead the Bantams to 71 points, good for a second-place finish. Daley was honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Cross Country Performer of the week thanks to her showing. Trinity also was ranked eighth in New England by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) thanks to their performance over the weekend.
Rosenfield led the Bantam squad with a two-day score of 143 (71+72) to tie for third overall with a handful of other players at last weekend's Duke Nelson Golf Invitational at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Vermont. The Bantams finished the weekend in third place with a score of 577. Rosenfield helped Trinity improve three strokes from the first round (290) to the second round (287) as they look forward to the Williams Fall Invitational next weekend.
