Hartford, Conn. - With the spring season heading towards the home stretch, this year's 31st Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the softball diamond and golf course. Softball junior SS Courtney Erickson (Everett, Mass.) and men's golf senior captain Nate Choukas (Hanover, N.H.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Erickson went 9-for-23 with nine runs and six RBIs in seven games last week, helping the Bantams pick up a three-game sweep over the Colby College Mules over the weekend. Erickson was 5-for-7 in a doubleheader sweep of Western Connecticut and against the Mules, tallied three hits, four runs and three RBIs. Erickson is tied for fourth in the NESCAC with 24 RBIs and tied for eighth with 35 total hits.
Choukas shot a 72 on Saturday and followed with a 79 on Sunday to help lead the Bantams to a dominant victory at the Williams College Golf Spring Invitational at Taconic Golf Club over the weekend. Choukas finished tied for fourth among the field and helped the Bantams post a team score of 598, nine strokes ahead of second-place Middlebury. Trinity has won two tournaments in a row heading into next weekend's New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament
