Hartford, Conn. - With last weekend's graduation officially putting a bookend on the 2017-18 academic year, this year's 35th and final Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the lacrosse field and track. Women's lacrosse senior Grace O'Donnell (Yarmouth, Maine) and men's track and field junior Alex Tomcho (Windsor, Conn.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
O'Donnell scored five goals and added an assist and a ground ball to help lead the Bantams to a 20-11 victory over the Rhodes College Lynx in last weekend's NCAA Tournament Third Round matchup in Salisbury, Md. O'Donnell scored four times in the first half to bring the Bantams back from an early, 3-2 deficit, and help the team reach its ninth-straight NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals. O'Donnell finishes her senior season with 44 points on 32 goals and 12 assists.
Tomcho finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.99 in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Men's Outdoor Track and Field Last Chance Meet over the weekend. Tomcho was one of three Bantams to finish in the top-six and was also a part of Trinity's 4x100-meter relay squad that turned in a sixth-place effort with a finals time of 43.06.
