Hartford, Conn. - As enter the month of November, this year's eighth Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the field hockey and football field. Junior field hockey goalie Lori Berger (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and the junior football OLB Dago Picon-Roura (Roslindale, Mass.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Berger made 17 total saves last week and picked up her fourth shutout (T3rd in NESCAC) of the season against Amherst. She made six saves and allowed just one goal in Trinity's NESCAC quarterfinal victory against Amherst. Berger ranks third in the conference with a .787 save percentage and has allowed 26 goals in 1,120 minutes for a 1.62 GAA to go with 101 saves this fall.
Picon-Roura was named as NESCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week thanks to his stellar performance in last weekend's victory at Middlebury. Picon-Roura led all tacklers with 11 (6 solo), intercepted a pass and returned it 19 yards to the Panther nine-yard line to set up a Trinity touchdown, and broke up two other passes. The Bantam defense held its opponent without a touchdown for the third game this season. Picon-Roura is Trinity's third NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week this fall.
