Hartford, Conn. - With the fall semester winding to a close, this year's 13th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the track and field. Women's track junior Morgan Hallow (Charlotte, N.C.) and men's track and field rookie Kinnard Hughes (Chicago, Ill.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Hallow set an indoor program record in the 400-meter dash to lead the Trinity College women's track and field squad at the Smith Winter Classic in Northampton. Hallow finished first in the 400 by nearly four seconds, turning in a finals time of 58:83, which stands as the new Trinity women's indoor record and converts to a banked track nation leading time of 58:03. Hallow also finished first in the 200-meter dash in a race that came down to the wire, winning by .20 seconds.
Hughes set the new indoor record in the long jump to help lead the Bantams at the 2018-19 season-opening Smith College Winter Classic in Northampton last weekend. Hughes recorded a finals distance of 6.83 meters in his collegiate debut, shattering the previous indoor record, while finishing first among college competitors. The first-year also claimed third-place in the high jump, just .05m off the top distance.
