Hartford, Conn. - As we enter the second week of 2019, this year's 16th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the ice and mat. Women's hockey junior goalie Kai-Lilly Karpman (Play Del Ray, Calif.) and wrestling senior co-captain Jack Reilly (Andover, Mass.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Karpmann was named NESCAC Player of the Week after posting three shutouts in a 3-0 week for the Bantams. Karpman finished the week with 62 saves and did not allow a single goal, helping Trinity to a conference series sweep over Connecticut College. She recorded 38 saves, her second-most of the season, in Trinity's victory over the Camels on Sunday. Karpman also leads the NESCAC with 253 total saves.
Reilly went 5-1 in the 165-pound bracket to lead the Bantams to fifth place in the team standings at the 8th Annual Waynesburg College Wrestling Invitational over the weekend. Reilly recovered from an opening-round loss to win five times, including two pins, and advance to the third-place bout but settled for fourth place due to the six-match limit for a single day. Trinity totaled 87.5 points to edge the host Yellowjackets for fifth by four points.
