Hartford, Conn. - With the spring semester officially underway, this year's 18th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances in the water and on the squash courts. Women's swimming and diving sophomore Lia Urban-Spillane (Rochester, N.Y.) and men's squash senior Nku Patrick (San Fernando, Trinidad) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Urban-Spillane won the one- and three-meter diving events to lead the visiting Bantams to a 197-93 victory over the Clark University Cougars on Saturday. Urban-Spillane opened the meet with a winning score of 249.25 off the one-meter board, and followed with a first-place score of 247.50 off the three-meter board to help the Bantams improve to 3-2 with the team's third win in a row.
Patrick went 3-0 for the Bantams last week. He swept his opponent versus Rochester, allowing just 13 total points at the No. 9 spot in the lineup. Versus Cornell, he allowed just four total points in a 3-0 victory before capping off the week with another 3-0 sweep in the No. 9 spot against Dartmouth on Saturday.
