Hartford, Conn. - With the 2018 fall season in full swing, this year's second Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the soccer and football fields. Sophomore women's soccer goalie Taylor O'Connor (Danvers, Mass.) and senior football tri-captain RB Max Chipouras (Longmeadow, Mass.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
O'Connor had 18 saves in a 1-0 loss at Hamilton and recorded her first shutout of the season in Trinity's first win of the year last week. She finished with seven stops in the 2-0 victory over WPI while her 18 saves versus the Continentals is tied for fifth most saves in a single game in the program's history. O'Connor currently leads the NESCAC in total saves (30) and is fourth in save percentage (.909).
Chipouras was named NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week thanks to a dominant effort on the ground in week one. Chipouras rushed 15 times for 173 yards and three touchdowns in the first half of a 35-0 victory over Colby. He averaged 11.5 yards per carry, scored the game's first points on a four-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and added scoring scampers of two and 64 yards later in the game.
