Hartford, Conn. - With the spring sports regular seasons entering the home stretch, this year's 29th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on track and field and the lacrosse field. Women's track and field junior Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) and men's lacrosse junior Ben Ferrucci (Essex, Conn.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Kabari was named NESCAC Women's Field Performer of the Week thanks to her dominant effort at the Coast Guard Invitational over the weekend. Kabari recorded a throw of 14.06 meters in the shot put to win the event at the Coast Guard Invitational, shattering her original school record of 13.77 meters. She also finished fourth in the discus, notching a mark of 36.82 meters. Her shot put mark ranks first in the conference and fourth in the entire country. The Bantams finished second at the meet, just missing out on first place by two points.
Ferrucci scored six goals last week to help lead the Bantams to a pair of NESCAC wins. Ferrucci scored three times in the second half of an 8-7 win over Connecticut College, including the go-ahead goal, before adding another hat trick over the weekend against Hamilton. Against the Continentals, he once again scored the go-ahead goal to help lead Trinity to a 14-12 win.
