Hartford, Conn. - As we enter the month of October, this year's fourth Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the field hockey field and cross country course. Senior field hockey co-captain Chandler Solimine (Pelham, N.Y.) and junior men's cross country harrier Ace McAlister (Great Barrington, Mass.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Solimine led the Bantams to a 3-0 week, scoring four times and adding four assists for 12 total points. Solimine scored a hat trick versus Bates and assisted on Trinity's fourth goal in a 4-0 victory. She netted the first goal of the game and adding two more assists in a 5-0 shutout over the University of New England and had one assist in a win over Connecticut College to start the week. She ranks third in the conference with 20 points. She became the sixth player in Trinity field hockey history to score 100 points in her career with her seven-point day against Bates.
McAlister finished ninth overall with a time of 25:17 over 8,000 meters to lead the men's cross country squad to a 20th-place finish in the team standings at the Paul Short Run Men's Cross Country Invitational last weekend. McAlister finished 24 seconds behind the individual winner and only two seconds after the seventh-place runner and one behind eighth place. He was the fastest Division III runner in the race as Trinity totaled 622 points to finish 16 behind 19th-place Rochester and 15 better than 21st-place College of New Jersey.
