Medford, Mass. - The No. 19 ranked Trinity College Field Hockey team surrendered three unanswered goals in the second half against No. 7 Tufts as the Bantams lost 4-2 in Sunday afternoon New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action in Medford, Mass. The loss drops the Bantams to 1-3 (1-2 in conference) while Tufts improves to 3-1 and remains undefeated in NESCAC play.
Trinity took a 2-1 lead into the half after goals by sophomore Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.) and Sydney Doolittle (Milford, Conn.) but couldn't get anything going offensively in the second half, getting only one shot off after halftime. Tufts freshman Gigi Tutoni (Newtown, Penn.) scored two of the Jumbos' second half goals while junior Dominique Zarrella (Leominster, Mass.) added the other.
Tufts finished the day with 19 shots compared to just seven from the Bantams. Senior goalie and tri-captain Sophie Fitzpatrick (Duxbury, Mass.) stopped seven Jumbo shots while Tufts goalies Libby DesRuisseaux (Buxton, Maine) and Emily Polinski (East Brunswick, N.J.) stopped a shot a piece.
The Bantams return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 22, as they take on Keene State at home. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
