Middletown, Conn. - Sophomore forward Chandler Solimine (Pelham, N.Y.) had two goals and an assist to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 4-2 victory over the Wesleyan University Cardinals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action this evening at Smith Field.  Trinity, ranked No. 2 regionally and No. 11 in the nation, improves to 12-3 overall and into a second-place tie with Hamilton for second place in the NESCAC with just a road game No. 10-ranked Amherst next Wednesday left on the regular-season schedule.  Wesleyan drops to 2-11 overall and 0-8 in the conference with its fifth setback in a row.

The Bantams opened up the scoring in the first half with a goal by junior forward Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.), who converted on a pass by Solimine at 17:09.  Coming off a penalty corner taken by Lauren Yue, Wesleyan made some crisp passes before getting the ball on net where Tierney Behles tipped in the ball from Yue at 27:04 to tie the game at one-1ll.

The visitors regained the lead in the second half, as Finn netted her second goal of the game at 42:24, taking an Allison Slowe (Medfield, Mass.) pass off a penalty corner and putting it past Claire Edelman for a 2-1 Bantam lead.  Trinity brought its lead to 3-1 as Finn set up Solimine in front of the net for the goal at 49:31.  Solimine notched her second goal at 54:16 off a pass from Slowe to increase the Bantams' lead to 4-1.  Cici Frattasio brought the home team to within two goals as she deflected a Maddie Shea shot past Trinity goalie Lori Berger (Scottsdale, Ariz.) at 63:18 to make the score 4-2.  Wesleyan had another excellent opportunity just a few minutes later off a penalty corner, but Berger made a clutch stop for her second of the contest.  Edelman made seven saves.
