Rochester, N.Y. - Senior co-captain forward Aaron Westbrooks (Dublin, Ireland) scored a game-high 21 points and added five rebounds and four steals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 95-84 win over the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford Panthers in the consolation game of the Chuck Resler Men's Basketball Tournament at the University of Rochester this afternoon. Trinity improves to 1-2, while the Panthers fall to1-3.
Trinity trailed, 43-40, at the half and, 63-61, with 12:16 left in the game, before an 11-0 run gave the Bantams the lead for good at 72-63 with just under nine minutes on the clock. The Panthers cut the lead to 78-77 at the three-minute mark, but a three-pointer by sophomore forward Luke MacDougall (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) put Trinity back up by four and Pitt.-Bradford could get no closer the rest of the way. The win is the first in the career of Head Coach Sean Tabb.
Bantam sophomore guard Salah Abdo (Chelsea, Mass.) had 20 points and five assists, while classmate Brian Ford (Bronx, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 16 points. MacDougall finished with 14 points and senior co-captain guard Paul Rowe (Brooklyn, N.Y.) notched 13 points, seven rebounds, and three steals for Trinity. Freshman Zach Moore (Olean, N.Y.) paced the Panthers with 18 points.
