Hartford, Conn. - Senior James Morgan (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) scored 32 points and added 17 rebounds, both game and career-highs, to lead the Concordia University Cougars to an 80-73 win over the Trinity College Bantams in men's basketball action on Stan Ogrodnik Court in Oosting Gymnasium tonight. Trinity falls to 4-5 while Concordia, coached by ex-Bantam hoopster Tyler Jones'84 improves to 6-4.
Trailing 33-27 at the half, Trinity went on a 17-11 run to tie the game at 44 apiece with 14:53 remaining. The teams traded buckets back and forth as the score remained tied at 62 with 6:11 remaining before Concordia went on to score ten of the next 12 points to ice the win.
Morgan added three assists and two steals in his career game for the Cougars. Trinity junior Timothy Dunn (Holyoke, Mass.) scored 14 points and added seven rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench for the Bantams, while Trinity sophomore Jon Pike (Exeter, N.H.) scored a team-high 17 points and junior Luke MacDougal (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) scored 13 points and added seven rebounds.
Trinity will compete in the Jim Beaudry Classic this weekend, opening against Husson on Sat., Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
