Trinity Men's Basketball Bests Bard

Red Hook, N.Y. - Senior co-captain center Ed Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had game-highs of 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 70-57 win over the Bard College Raptors in men's basketball action this afternoon moved to Red Hook High School after a problem with a backboard at Bard's gym.  Trinity improves to 2-3 and the Raptors drop to 2-5.

Trinity used an early 9-0 run to turn a 10-8 deficit into a 17-10 lead with 12:42 left in the first half.  Ogundeko started the run with a layup, while sophomores Connor Merinder (North Andover, Mass.) and Paul Colson (Baldwin, N.Y.) made three-pointers.  Trinity led by as many as 15 points in the first half, after a trey by senior co-captain Chris Turnbull (Ridgewood, N.J.) with under two minutes remaining before halftime, but the Raptors scored the final five points of the opening stanza for a 38-28 halftime score.

After nearly three scoreless minutes to start the second half, Trinity sophomore Jeremy Arthur (Westbury, N.Y.) drilled a three-pointer and Ogundeko scored inside to push the Bantam lead back up to 15 points. Ogundeko converted an an old-fashioned three-point play with 4:24 on the clock to give Trinity its biggest lead of the afternoon at 62-38, before Bard closed the game with a 9-0 run to account for the 70-57 final tally.

Trinity junior Eric Gendron (Merrimack, N.H.) chipped in with 15 points, while Turnbull had seven points and six boards, and senior guard Langdon Neal (Chicago, Ill.) dished five assists.  Armando Dunn and Harry Johnson had 15 points apiece for Bard.  Trinity shot 47 percent from the field and held Bard to a 36.5 percent shooting clip.
