Hartford, Conn. –Junior Brennan Morris (East Hempstead, N.H.) scored a game-high 20 points to lead the visiting Tufts University Jumbos to an 88-58 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference men’s basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium. The Bantams fall to 14-7 overall and 4-3 in the NESCAC with their first loss in five games, while the No. 21-ranked Jumbos improve to 17-4 overall and 7-0 in the league with their third victory in a row.  Trinity junior forward Donald Jorden (Tampa, Fla.) had 14 points, a game-high 13 rebounds, and two blocks.  The Bantams will host NESCAC rival Bates tomorrow at 3 p.m. in its final home game of the 2019-20 regular season.  Tufts plays at league foe Connecticut College tomorrow at the same time.

Tufts never trailed, jumping out to an 8-2 lead in the opening 2:35 and leading, 41-21, at the half.  Morris led all scorers at the break with 13 points, while Jorden had 10.  Trinity fell victim to a cold shooting night, making just nine of 41 shots and missing all nine of its three-point attempts in the first half.  The Jumbos never let the Bantams back into the game, maintaining at least a 17-point cushion and eventually outscoring Trinity by 10 in the second half to win going away.  The Bantams’ shooting woes continued after intermission, and the home squad finished the game 22-for-77 from the floor (28.6%) and 3-for-20 from long range (15%).

Trinity senior guard Christian Porydzy (South Glastonbury, Conn.) joined Jorden in double figures in scoring with 11 points to go with five assists and four rebounds.  Senior co-captain Nick Seretta (Greenfield, Mass.) added nine points and five boards, while classmate Joe Bell (Manchester, N.H.) and sophomore Chris Dean (Henrico, Va.) had six points apiece for the Bantams.  Morris made nine treys in nine tries to account for 15 of his 20 points, while Tufts senior guard Eric Savage (South Brunswick, N.J) added 19 points, 10 boards, and five assist.  Jumbo junior center Luke Rogers (Boxboro, Mass.) scored 16 points with six rebounds, and two blocks.
