Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College men’s golf program held its ground through the final day of the 2019 Bill Detrick Invitational, with the “A” team holding off seven other schools to take second place Sunday afternoon. The team finished with a final score of 596, with Babson College taking the crown with a final of 581.
Additionally, junior Ricardo Paes Leme (Lake Villa, Ill.) took home the individual crown after shooting a 71 in day one and a 72 on Sunday.
The Bantams “A” team finished Satuday’s round with a score of 296, and finished Sunday’s round at 300. Senior John Malicki (Albany, N.Y.) totaled the Invitational shooting 147 overall, finishing two strokes behind Leme in each round. The Trinity “B” team, led by freshman Max Edminster (Takoma Park, Md.), finished eighth, with the first year shooting a 79 on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday.
Amherst College trailed Trinity’s “A” team through day one by four strokes, and finished two strokes behind in day two to place third with 602. Tufts narrowly missed finishing inside the top three (603), and Western New England (627) and Springfield (634) rounded out the top five.
