Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore forward Barclay Gammill (New Canaan, Conn.) scored in the last 45 seconds of the third period to even the score, 3-3, against the visiting Hobart Statesmen in men's ice hockey action at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center Saturday afternoon. This game concludes the two-game series between the nationally ranked teams. The Bantams are now 6-1-2 overall, while the Statesmen are now 7-2-3. Trinity returns to the ice after holiday break on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. home game against non-conference opponent Adrian College.

Hobart struck first at the 15:37 mark of the opening period when junior defenseman Matt Pizzo (Thorold, Ontario) rifled a slap shot from just inside the blue line into the top shelf of the net to put the Statesmen up, 1-0. Fellow junior forward Cam Shaheen (North Andover, Mass.) assisted on the play. The Bantams had many scoring opportunities in the first period and their best chance came during the power-play when Tyler Whitney (Wakefield, Mass.) smacked in a rebound after Hobart sophomore goaltender Alexander Connal (Simsbury, Conn.) had saved the initial wrist shot by Bantam rookie defenseman James Callahan (Gladstone, N.J.).  Both teams came out aggressive due to remaining tension from last night's match-up, and the first period ended with 5 penalties, 3 against the Statesmen and 2 against the Bantams.

Trinity came out firing in the second stanza to tie the game at 1-1. In the first 30 seconds, the Bantams quickly transitioned and got behind Hobart's defense and senior captain Anthony Sabitsky (Sicklerville, N.J.) fired a shot between the pipes and past Connal. Defenders Liam Feeney (Foxboro, Mass.) and Callahan assisted on the play. Trinity found the back of the net again with 4:40 remaining in the period. Sophomore Andy Chugg (Mesa, Ariz.) won the faceoff and passed to Gammill for a quick shot on goal to put the Bantams up 2-1. With 30 seconds remaining in the period, senior goaltender Alex Morin (St. Hubert, Quebec) made an insane save to keep the Bantam lead.

The Statesmen came out firing in the third period. At the 14:48 mark, Hobart's Travis Schneider (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) finished the rebound shot from Matt Pizzo (Thorold, Ontario). The Statesmen fired again when Tyler Wolf (Naperville, Ill.) received a pass from Colin Merrill (Portland, Maine) and Ben Greiner (Newport Beach, Calif.) right in front of the Bantam net to put the Statesmen up 3-2. In the last minute, the Bantams pulled Morin to receive an extra skater in an attempt to tie the game. After a Trinity timeout, senior Tyler Whitney (Wakefield, Mass.) found Gammill in front of the net to tie the game, 3-3. The teams went into sudden-death overtime, but either team could score. Morin finished with 41 saves for the Bantams, while Connall finished with 37 saves for the Statesmen.
