Men's Third Varsity Eight Takes Silver At New England Rowing Championships

Worcester, Mass. - The Trinity College men's third-varsity eight finished second in the grand final with a time of 6:36.14 in the New England Rowing Championships on Lake Quinsigamond this afternoon.  The Bantam second-varsity eight was third in its grand final and the varsity eight was fifth.

Trinity's third-varsity eight, seeded fourth in the field, finished 8.05 seconds behind Wesleyan's winning boat and edged Williams by .16 seconds to take the silver medal.  Trinity's second-varsity eight, seeded seventh, posted a time of 6:22.119, while Williams won the race at 6:16.357, and Bates was fourth at 6:22.145.   In the varsity-eight grand final, Trinity's time of 6:16.102 was 2.5 seconds faster than sixth-place Boston College, while Bates won gold at 6:07.879.  The Bantams varsity eight was seeded No. 8 among the 16 boats entered.
