Trinity cleared the ball past the midline following a Hamilton corner kick, but Jack Sheehan immediately returned the ball into the Bantams' zone. Roth Wetzel outran the defender for a near breakaway when he was fouled inside the penalty arc. Giovannelli lined up the free kick from 19 yards out and fired a bullet that curved around a wall of seven Bantams and two Continentals to find the nylon inside the right post.
Linds Cadwell notched his third shutout of the season for Hamilton. Trinity sophomore goalie Andrew Clark (Short Hills, N.J.) finished with six saves.
Trinity returns to the pitch on Tuesday night for its home opener versus Connecticut College at 7 p.m.
