Trinity Men's Squash Secures Close Victory At No. 3-Ranked Yale

New Haven, Conn. - Junior Moustafa Hamada (Alexandria, Egypt) broke a 4-4 tie with a 3-0 victory in the No. 7 match to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 5-4 win over the Yale University Bulldogs in men's squash action this evening.  Defending National Champion Trinity, ranked No. 1 in the nation, improves to 10-0 with their 29th consecutive victory, while the No. 3-ranked Bulldogs drop to 7-1.

Trinity senior captain Matthew Mackin (Greenwich, Conn.) won, 3-1, and junior Vrishan Kotian (Mumbai, India) downed Zachary Leman, 3-2, to give Trinity a 2-1 lead after the first wave of matches.  Bantam rookie Affeeq Ismail (Kuching, Malaysia) won, 3-0, at No. 8 for a 3-1 Trinity lead, but Yale freshman Kah Wah Cheong (Ipoh, Malaysia) edged Trinity junior Elroy Leong (Selangor, Malaysia), 3-2, with a 14-12 triumph in the fifth game to make the score, 3-2.  Sophomore No. 2 Karan Malik (Mumbai, India) answered for Trinity with a 3-1 win to bring the visitors one point away from the win.

Yale tied the match in the final wave, as senior No. 1 Neal Martin (Belfast, Ireland) and rookie No. 4 Thomas Dembinski (New Haven, Conn.) posted Bulldog victories for a 4-4 contest.  Hamada had a 2-0 lead at the conclusion of the other matches, and outlasted Bulldog senior Charlie Wyatt (Seer Green, United Kingdom), 11-9, for a 3-0 sweep.
