Trinity Men's Squash Gets Past Franklin And Marshall

Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore Zeyad Elshorafy (Alexandria, Egypt) won the deciding match, 3-0, at the No. 7 position to break a 4-4 tie and lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 5-4 decision over the visiting Franklin and Marshall College Diplomats in men's squash action this afternoon on Kellner Squash Center.  Trinity, ranked No. 1 in the nation, improves to 6-0 with its 25th win in a row and its fourth victory in five days.  Franklin and Marshall, ranked No. 6 nationally, drops to 3-2 with its second setback in a row.

With the match tied, 1-1, Dylan Cunningham won, 3-1, against Trinity junior Moustafa Hamada (Alexandria, Egypt) to put the Bantams behind in a match for the first time this season.  Trinity sophomore No. 2 Karan Malik (Mumbai, India) countered with a 3-0 victory to tie the match, but Alex Arjoon (New York, N.Y.) returned the favor for the Diplomats by the same score to push the visitors back ahead, 3-2.

The teams traded wins once again when Bantam senior captain Matthew Mackin (Greenwich, Conn.) won, 3-1, at No. 8 and Franklin and Marshall freshman Abhishek Pradham (Mumbai, India) edged Bantam junior Miled Zarazua (Mexico City, Mexico) at the top spot in the lineup.  With Trinity trailing, 4-3, and two matches remaining, sophomore No. 4 Juan Vargas (Bogota, Colombia) won, 3-1, and Elshorafy swept Ryan Mullaney to clinch the match.
