Men's Squash Opens the Year with a Win Versus Bates

Hartford, Conn. – The No. 3 ranked Trinity College men's squash team opened the 2014-15 season with an 8-1 victory over visiting Bates on Saturday at the Kellner Squash Center. The Bantams improve to 1-0 with the victory and the Bobcats drop to 0-1 with the loss.

Trinity was impressive in their first action this winter, winning eight matches in three games. The players at No. 2-8 all swept their opponents for the Bantams.

Seniors Miled Zarazua (Mexico City, Mexico), Moustafa Hamada (Alevandria, Egypt), Karan Malik (Bangalore, India), Elroy Leong (Selangor, Malaysia), Pranay Merchant (Mumbai, India) and John Lamont (Montreal, Quebec) all won for the Bantams, while first-year James Evans (Maidstone, England) was also victorious for Trinity in his first-ever collegiate match.

Trinity wraps up a home weekend of action on Sunday, Nov. 16, with matches versus New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) rivals Middlebury and Bowdoin. The contest with the Panthers is slated for 10:00 a.m. and the match the Polar Bears gets underway at 2:00 p.m.
