Canton, N.Y. - Junior William Douglas (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won, 11-2, 11-3, 11-3 in the No. 8 match to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 9-0 victory over the Hamilton College Continentals in men's squash action this evening. The top-ranked Bantams, which also lost earlier today for the first time this winter, 5-4, at No. 5-ranked St. Lawrence, closes the dual-match season at 19-1.
Lenard Puski (Budapest, Hungary) won game four of his match with Trinity first-year Tom De Mulder (Gent, Belgium) 12-10, that gave the St. Lawrence Saints a 5-4 win. Puski's match was the last one going after Amr Khalifa (Cairo, Egypt) stayed unbeaten at number one with a 3-2 win over Rick Penders (Maastricht, Netherlands), pulling the two teams even at 4-4 in the team match. Puski beat De Mulder 12-10 and 11-6 in the first two games, De Mulder rallied to win game three 11-6 and after an injury time-out for DeMulder and the score tied at 10-10, Puski scored the last two points of the match for the 3-1 individual win and the team upset.
The Saints trailed the team match early as Trinity won the first three matches played, but SLU steadily battled back. Moustafa Bayoumy (Cairo, Egypt) won by default at No. 2 when Trinity's Michael Craig (Belfast, Northern Ireland) was forced to withdraw due to injury, trailing by one game and down 6-5 in the second. Lockie Munroe (Toronto, Ontario) won 3-1 at No. 7 over Trinity's Omar Alluadin (Lahore, Pakistan), 11-8, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8 and Tim Lasusa (New York, N.Y.) won a 3-2 winner at No. 9 over Nku Patrick (San Fernando, Trinidad), coming from 2-1 down. Lasusa won game one 11-7, lost 6-11, 6-11 and then rallied with 11-2 and 11-7 wins for the victory.
Ahmed Bayoumy (Cairo, Egypt) lost to Juan Vargas (Bogota, Colombia) 3-2 at No. 3, winning game one 11-8 before Vargas took 11-7 and 12-10 wins. Bayoumy won game four, 11-5, but Vargas took the fifth game, 11-6. Hussein Elrayes (Cairo, Egypt) also lost 3-2 at No. 5 for the Saints, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7, 7-11, 8-11 to Trinity's James Evans (Maidstone, England), Affeeq Ismail (Kuching, Malaysia) beat George Willis (Kettering, U.K.) 3-1 at No. 6, with Willis winning game one 12-10 and Ismail coming back with 11-9, 11-8, 11-3 wins.
