Trinity Men's Squash Rips Rochester

Hartford, Conn. - Senior tri-captain Andrew Lee (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) and rookies Ali El Toukhy (Cairo, Egypt) and Utkarsh Baheti (Jaipir, India) posted 3-0 wins to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 9-0 victory over the visiting University of Rochester Yellowjackets in men's squash action this afternoon at Kellner Center.  Trinity, ranked No. 2 in the nation, improves to 9-0 heading into a road match at Columbia on Thursday at 2 p.m.  No. 7-ranked Rochester falls to 1-3 with its third-consecutive setback.

El Toukhy handled Rochester's Marcus Sim, 11-7, 11-7, 11-9, in the No. 5 spot to open the scoring for the day, and Baheti won, 12-10, 11-7, 11-4, over Alex Riedelsheimer at the bottom position on the ladder during the third wave.  Lee highlighted a 3-0 Trinity sweep in the second wave that clinched the match foe the Bantams with an 11-5, 11-7, 12-10 triumph at No.6 on the ladder.  Trinity junior Aryaman Adik (Mumbai, India) posted a 3-1 victory in the No. 8 spot in the first wave to give the home team a 2-1 lead with El Toukhy's win a third of the way through.  Junior Ziad Sakr (Tanta, Egypt) won, 3-1, at the No. 7 spot to give Trinity a 3-1 advantage, and first-year phenom Mike Aijanan (Jarvenpaa, Finland) clinched it with the fifth Bantam win of the day, 3-1, at the top of the ladder after Lee's victory to close the second wave.

Aijanan came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Rochester's Ashley Davies, ranked No. 5 nationally at the end of last season, 5-11, 9-11, 13-11, 11-6, 11-9.  Yellowjacket senior Matthew Toth, ranked No. 23 at the close of last year, upended Trinity senior Michael Craig (Belfast, Northern Ireland) to earn the Rochester point.  Trinity senior tri-captain Kush Kumar (New Delhi, India) and senior Thoboki Mohohlo (Johannesburg, South Africa) also won today.  Mohohlo battled through five games, losing the fourth, 12-10, but winning the fifth by the same score to oust Rochester's Abdelrahman Lasheen in the No. 4 match.
