Trinity Men's Swimming And Diving Wins Against Wheaton

Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore Greg Kalmiskii (St. Petersburg, Russia) won three events to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 146-5-84.5 win over the visiting Wheaton College Lyons in men's swimming and diving action this evening at Trinity Natatorium.  Kalmiskii took first place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.77), the 100-yard butterfly (52.44), and the 500-yard free (4:56.75), while Trinity first-year Radojica Pavlovic (Belgrade, Serbia) won both the 50-yard free (21.84) and the 100-yard fly (48.21).   The Bantams improve to 2-1 and the Lyons are now 3-5.  

Trinity opened the meet with immediate success, as Pavlovic, senior tri-captain Tristan McConnell (Merion Station, Pa.), and rookies Charles Roth (Alexandria, Va.) and Blake Jamilkowski (New York, N.Y.) won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.08.  Bantam first-year Owen Hall (Potomac, Md.) added a winning time of 10:19.85 in the 1,000-yard free, and classmate Alexander Kapanadze (London, England) won the 100-yard IM with a time of 55.94.  Trinity freshman Alex Schrock (Long Lake, Minn.) highlighted the diving with a winning score of 230.33 off the one-meter board. 

Trinity was particularly dominant in the 100-yard IM and the 500-yard freestyle, taking the top-three places in both races.  Jamilkowski was second behind Kapanadze in the 100-yard IM with a time of 56.56 and Roth was third at 57.31.  In the 500-yard free, Hall was second behind Kalmiskii at 5:00.28 and sophomore George Kapanadze (London, England) was third at 5:11.33.
