Trinity Men's Swimming Wins Over Wesleyan In Season-Opening Tri-Meet

Middletown, Conn. - Senior tri-captain Nikola Kostic (Belgrade, Serbia) and sophomore Radoslav Pavlovic (Belgrade, Serbia) each won races to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 191-91 victory over the Wesleyan University Cardinals in a season-opening men's swimming and diving tri-meet this afternoon.  The Bantams also lost, 218-73, to the Bates College Bobcats and are now 1-1.  Bates downed Wesleyan, 235-61, in the other decision.  Kostic won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:39.14 and Pavlovic took first in the 50-yard freestyle at 21.65

Pavlovic was also second in the 100-yard free (48.54) and Kostic was third in the 500-yard free (5:06.70).  Trinity sophomore Charles Roth (Alexandria, Va.) added a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (54.41) and third in the 200-yard back (2:04.64), while senior tri-captain Gordon Hyduke (Malvern, Pa.) posted a third-place time of 2:04.91 in the 200-yard butterfly, and sophomore Marco Rupp (Wolfsburg, Austria) was third in the 200-yard free at 1:49.92.  Sophomore diver Alex Schrock (Long Lake, Minn.) added a second-place score of 172.35 off the one-meter board.  In relays, Trinity's foursome of Kostic, Pavlovic, Roth, and sophomore Blake Jamilkowski (New York, N.Y.) finished second 1:38.06, just .03 seconds behind the winners from Bates.
