Springfield, Mass. - The Trinity College men's tennis team cruised to a 7-2 victory over Springfield College on Friday afternoon to improve to 4-2 on the year, thanks to a handful of dominant performances in both doubles and singles play. Trinity returns to action tomorrow when it hosts Coast Guard at 1 p.m.
The Bantams took an early, 3-0 lead in team scoring, thanks to a sweep of doubles play that saw Springfield muster just four total points between the three matches. The rookie duo of Christopher Bilicic (Chicago, Ill.) and Granville Kaynor (New Orleans, La.) highlighted doubles action with an 8-0 victory at the No. 2 spot while sophomore Courtland Boyle (Pembroke, Mass.) and first-year Scott Danforth (Greenwich, Conn.) similarly dominated at No. 3 with an 8-1 victory. Senior co-captains Kyle Scheffers (Flossmoor, Ill.) and Rex Glickman (Chappaqua, N.Y.) rounded out the doubles scoring with an 8-3 victory at the top spot.
Danforth had no trouble in singles play, winning in straight sets in the No. 4 match (6-2, 6-4) while Kaynor and junior Edan Sossen (Oakland Gardens, N.Y.) picked up straight-set victories for Trinity as well. Bilicic made quick work at No. 6 with a dominant, 6-1, 6-0 triumph.
