New London, Conn. - The Trinity College men's tennis team opened up the 2018-19 season this weekend at the Connecticut College Invitational in New London and saw a handful of solid performances to begin the fall. The Bantams return to action next Friday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Regional Championships at Middlebury that last the entire weekend.
Trinity doubles pair Courtland Boyle (Pembroke, Mass.) and Ross DeRose (Buffalo, N.Y.) won both their matches, an 8-2 victory over Connecticut College's duo and a hard-fought, 8-7 triumph over Babson's pair. Senior Chris Caskin (Potomac, Md.) and rookie Dylan Powell (Warwick, Bermuda) also picked up a victory in doubles action, knocking off Wheaton's No. 3 doubles pair, 8-1.
Alexander Fallone (New York, N.Y.) went 2-0 to highlight Trinity's singles performances. Fallone won his first match, 6-1, 6-3, before a marathon second match in which he defeated his Connecticut College counterpart, 4-6, 6-3, 18-16. DeRose, Powell, sophomores Granville Kaynor (New Orleans, La.) and Christopher Bilicic (Chicago, Ill.) and first-year Charlie Kilborn (Winnetka, Ill.) each earned a victory in singles action as well.
