New London, Conn. - The Trinity College men's track and field squad placed fifth at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday in New London. The Bantams finished with 74 points, good for fifth place behind Eastern Connecticut State and UMass-Dartmouth who tied for third.
First-year Robert Allen (Bloomfield, Conn.) finished second in the 100-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter dash to lead the sprinting squad. Senior Ben Feola (Woodbridge, Conn.) brought home third in the 400-meter dash while first-year Andrew Coutu (Rye Beach, N.H.) added a sixth-place time in the 400.
Rookie Tim Lautenbach (Weston, Conn.) went sixth in the 800 while sophomore Stephen Tyler (Weston, Conn.) added a second-place effort in the 1,500-meter run. Senior Lucas Duros (Wilmette, Ill.) took fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a finals time of 16:15.27 while sophomore William Estony (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) also scored in the event.
Senior Luke Mayer (Morristown, N.J.) won the 110-meter hurdles with a finals time of 15.49 while junior Michael Zarra (Cheshire, Conn.) scored in the pole vault and first years Abel Ngala (New York, N.Y.) and Zach Verdi (Plantsville, Conn.) scored in the long jump and shot put, respectively. Seniors Kevin Oleskewicz (Simsbury, Conn.) and Myles Walsh (Winchester, Mass.) also added points in the discus and hammer throw, respectively.
