Trinity Men's Track And Field Returns To Action In Mary Grinaker Invitational

Northampton, Mass. - Sophomore Robert Allen (Bloomfield, Conn.) won the 200-meter dash and placed second in the 60-meter dash, as the Trinity College Bantams opened the 2020 calendar year in the Mary Grinaker Men's Indoor Track and Field Invitational this afternoon.  Trinity first-year Travis Martin (New Haven, Conn.) won the mile run, finishing first of four Bantams among the top five, and Zach Verdi (Plantsville, Conn.) added a winning toss in the shot put.

Allen won the 200 meters by .14 seconds with a time of 23.18 and was .06 seconds shy of first in the 60-meter finals at 7.03.  Martin posted a first-place time of 4:22.45 in the mile, followed by senior co-captain Ace McAlister (Great Barrington, Mass.) in second at 4:22.80, sophomore Tim Lautenbach (Weston, Conn.) in fourth at 4:29.48, and junior Stephen Tyler ((Weston, Conn.) in fifth at 4:29.96. 

Senior co-captain Timothy Bogomolov (Lynn, Mass.) and rookie Ben Trotter (Westford, Mass.) added third-place finishes in the 3,000-meter run (9:15.00) and the 400-meter dash (52.87), respectively, while junior Erkin Verbeek (Bethesda, Md.) was fourth in the 600-meter run (1:28.85).  In jumps, Trinity junior Jyles Romer (Nassau, Bahamas) provided the highlight with a fourth-place distance of 39'08.50" in the triple jump.
