Manchester, Conn. – Juniors Joe Ruggiero (Manchester, Conn.) and Zachary Joachim (Sudbury, Mass.) and first-year Stephen Tyler (Weston, Conn.) finished second, third, and fourth, respectively, to lead the host Bantams to first place in the season-opening Trinity Men’s Cross Country Invitational this afternoon at Wickham Park. Trinity totaled 256 points to beat second-place Coast Guard by the same amount in a field of 11 teams. Merchant Marine’s Austin McElrevey won the race with a time of 16:51, while Ruggiero and Joachim crossed the finish line three seconds later and Tyler posted a fourth-place time of 16:56 over 5,000 meters.
Trinity sophomore Tim Bogomolov (Lynn, Mass.) added a seventh-place time of 17:143 and classmate Lucas Duros (Wilmette, Ill.) came in ninth place at 17:14. The Bantams raced without All-New England sophomore Ace MacAlister (Great Barrington, Mass.). Trinity heads to the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth for its next race a week from today.
