Trinity Men's Cross Country Wins James Earley Invitational, McAlister Second Overall For Bantams

Westfield, Mass. - Sophomore Ace McAlister (Great Barrington, Mass.) placed second overall with a time of 25:41.79 to lead the Trinity College Bantams to the James Earley Men's Cross Country Invitational title this afternoon at Stanley Park.  Trinity had three runners among the top ten and totaled 74 points to edge second-place Williams by three points in the team standings, besting a field of 37 schools.  McAlister was 6.76 seconds off the first-place pace but came in nearly 10 seconds ahead of the third-place runner.  Trinity junior Joe Ruggiero (Manchester, Conn.) was seventh at 26:29.14 and sophomore Lucas Duros (Wilmette, Ill.) came in ninth at 26:39.62.  Bantam sophomore Timothy Bogomolov (Lynn, Mass.) added a 15th-place time of 26:51.08, senior co-captain Caleb Wright (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was 41st at 27:56.39, and rookie Stephen Tyler (Weston, Conn.) finished 46th at 27:56.39.

Both the men's and women's team had solid performances," said Trinity Head Coach George Suitor. "Both teams worked on getting out early in the race and running as a pack. This was one of better performances in recent years as a team. We felt like last week our race was not indicative of how good our teams can be. This was a great bounce back race for us. I am very proud of everyone that ran today. Our goal is to continue to improve and get better."
