Trinity Softball Loses Pair In Dot Richardson Games

Clermont, Fla.  –  The Trinity College Bantams dropped both games of a doubleheader, 1/0-3/8, against Fredonia State and Frostburg State in softball action today at the United States Training Center.  After starting the season with a win yesterday afternoon, the Bantams have dropped three straight, starting their year with a 1-3 record.

In the opening game, Trinity jumped on top, 1-0, in the first inning, on an RBI double by sophomore 3B Erica Correia, knocking in Elizabeth McQuaid.  Trinity starting pitcher Lily Jewell kept the Fredonia bats off balance until the sixth inning, when Fredonia posted three runs on the scoreboard.  Fredonia starter Kelsey Gannet settled in after the first, allowing no other runs, and striking out nine Bantams in a complete-game effort.

In game two, Frostburg put Trinity in a quick hole, going up 5-0 in the first inning, roping five hits including two doubles and picking up two walks in the frame.  Frostburg added two additional runs in the second inning, and another in the fourth, as Trinity could not recover from the early blow and dropped the innings-shortened game, 8-0.
